What's the Hains Point 100?
Hi there, I’m Megan. In 2012, I decided I was going to ride 100 miles around Hains Point to raise awareness and funds for the Washington Area Bicyclist Association’s Women & Bicycles program. Since the HP100 was started, hundreds and hundreds of riders have joined in and thousands and thousands of dollars have been raised. And, you don't even have to ride the whole 100 miles...
I deeply believe that getting more women on bikes will make DC a better place for everyone. Doing a 3-mile loop gets a little boring so for 7 years now, I've asked DC cycling community to join me for music, food, door prizes, hand-ups, and more!
This year is - can you believe it - the 8th Hains Point 100! And, alas, 2019 will be the final HP100. While the WABA Women & Bicycles program will remain near and dear to my heart, the Hains Point 100 has run it's natural course, and it's time to step aside. This event has grown to a size that is hard to coordinate on our own, and it's time to trust that the support I've raised over the years can be sustained with the help of others. So for us, it's time to draw this event to a close, and I will do all I can to make sure this beloved #BikeDC community tradition ends on a high note.
Everyone is invited of all riding abilities. You can ride as long - or as little - as you'd like! Event is free, all I ask is you register and consider donating to WABA's Women & Bicycle Program.
